" Understand the meaning of bindery terms such as drilling, perfect binding, saddle stitching, labeling, Ink jetting, tipping, margins, carton packing, UV coating, lap, arpacing, poly bagging, packaging, pockets, strapper, tape machine, collate, gather, inserting, and downpiling.
" Understand basics bindery machines such as trimmer, jog, run and stop buttons, caliper, stitcher section, milling station, reject tray/bin, mail table, ink jet head, stacker, waste tubes, pockets, and conveyers.
" Recognize safe work habits, wear personal protective equipment (PPE), identify first aid kits and know how to activate emergency stop buttons.
" Be able to correctly put forms in a pocket, jog forms accurately, and keep up with the speed of the machine.
" Know basic skid patterns for downpiling
" When downpiling, keep up with the speed of the machine, pull full pallets out and start new pallets
" Know how to operate a tape machine and replace tape
" Know how to operate a strapper and troubleshoot common operational errors
" Possess a high level of quality control; correctly and efficiently identifying missing stitches, dog ears, bad trimming, glue problems, missing forms, bad seals in polywrap, wrinkles, tears, light or dark inking, etc
